Is Golf Good for Your Health?

We all know golf can be relaxing and fun, but can it make you healthier? As people across America make their 2009 New Year’s resolutions this month to become healthier, PGA.com offers an easy way to accomplish that goal: play golf!
 
In their article, they note that a recent study finds that given the number of calories burned, it’s certainly OK to call golf a sport, and that the actual act of swinging a golf club takes significant energy, enough that it can be considered good exercise. Before you start planning your golf fitness program, however, they warn that although golf is considered good for health, it will do little to improve fitness — meaning it won’t increase your overall aerobic capacity. 
 
So for 2009, play more golf for your health, but keep your gym memberships too!
