Lowcountry Golf Course Owners Association Names 93-year-old 2009 Employee of the Year
Earlier this month, the Lowcountry Golf Course Owners Association named its 2009 employee of the year as Mandas “Sammy” Mulrain. Mulrain, who is 93 years old, has been employed at Palmetto Dunes for nearly 30 years. Over his 30-year career, he has an impressive work record, never arriving late or missing one of his shifts.
His fellow employees describe Sammy as being friendly, detail-oriented and generous, and always involving himself with different fundraisers and charitable events around Hilton Head Island. “Sammy is truly an inspiration to everyone who knows him,” says . Brad Marra, director of golf at Palmetto Dunes. “He’s a delight to work with and is quite deserving of this honor.”
Mulrain’s life is full of momentous experiences, including storming Normandy during World War II and playing baseball with Phil Rizzuto. Mulrain is truly an amazing person and employee, and it’s obvious to see why he was chosen as employee of the year. Congratulations Sammy!
