Golf fans and players all over have embraced the social media sites Twitter and Facebook. Many pro golfers now have Twitter accounts that allow them to communicate directly with fans at any time.

Pro golfers with Twitter accounts include:
Stuart Appleby (@StuartAppleby)
Stewart Cink (@StewartCink)
Carling Coffing (@CarlingCoffing)
John Daly (@PGA_JohnDaly)
Davis Love III (@Love3d)

Pro golfers with Facebook pages include:
John Daly
Tiger Woods

The Macali Communications Blog recently posted on a study conducted by the National Golf Foundation about golfers’ social technology participation habits. The report showed that most core golfers (those 18 years old and older who play eight or more rounds yearly) are online and email every day, and that 83% of those golfers go online just for fun or to pass the time. No wonder these social media sites are attracting golfers!

Are you on Twitter or Facebook? What types of things attract you to these sites? By the way, Golf Island is on both Twitter and Facebook. Check us out at @GolfIsland and Facebook.com/GolfIsland.
