Cheyenne Woods, the 18-year-old niece of Tiger Woods, will be playing the Wegmans, which is held in Pittsford, N.Y., from June 25-28 on a sponsor exemption. Cheyenne is currently a freshman at Wake Forest University in North Carolina.

After the pressure of playing in nationals in her first year of college golf, we assume Cheyenne can handle all she does, but is this maybe a bit soon for her? She’s had a great year for a typical freshman, but typical freshmen don’t get invited to play with the big girls.

There will be some serious competition at the tournament, as the event will include nine of the top 10 players on the LPGA money list, as well as tour rookie Michelle Wie. Top-ranked Lorena Ochoa, the tournament’s 2007 winner, has yet to commit to play in the event.

Is this pushing Cheyenne too soon, or will she handle the pressure like a pro?
