Golf Cart Safety
Last week we told you about all the fast and furious “souped up” golf carts available on the market these days, so we figured we should discuss golf cart safety this week!
Brent Kelley wrote a great blog article about this topic, with these simple words as rule #1: Don’t act stupid! Most golf cart accidents are a result of “joy riding” and not the normal golf cart driving associated with play.
What you should NEVER do while driving a golf cart:
-Stand rather than sit inside the cart
-Hang legs or arms out of the cart
-Not pay attention to where you are driving
-Take sharp turns at too high speeds
-Operate a cart when impaired by alcohol
Most of these sound familar, because they are some of the same common sense rules you abide by while driving cars.
To ensure a safe golf outing on a cart, make sure to:
-Read over the “warnings” or “safety guidelines” stickers or text that come with most golf carts
-Be extra careful on cart paths around the clubhouse and at any intersections
-Don’t speed into a stop behind a parked cart
-Don’t take the cart to places on the golf course where it is not intended to go, such as rough terrain or into water!
We now feel you are prepared to operate any golf cart, “souped up” or not! Have fun.
