Spring is here and that means golf is in full swing! With the upcoming Verizon Heritage Golf Tournament and sunny days ahead, Hilton Head Island, with its beautiful beaches, marshes and live oak trees, is the hot spot for golf. So the Golf Island, as Hilton Head is known, has headed online to give a few lucky winners a chance at Heritage tickets and one grand prize winner a weekend getaway to our Southern paradise.

But before you start cleaning your golf clubs, head to the computer. As part of the Golf Island Giveaway, every Wednesday, March 25-April 8, we’ll post a trivia question via Twitter, Facebook and MySpace. The answer can be found on either the Golf Island or Verizon Heritage PGA Golf Tournament Web sites.

Participants will have until the following Friday at noon EST to find the answer and send it via Twitter to @GolfIsland via @reply using #GolfGiveaway in your response. On March 27, April 3 and April 10, a random winner will be selected from among all the correct responses to receive a pair of tickets to the Verizon Heritage Golf Tournament. We’ll announce the winner via Twitter and Facebook at 4 p.m. EST that same day.

We’ll also be giving away as a grand prize a weekend golf getaway complete with accommodations and golf on some of the Lowcountry’s best courses. To enter to win the grand prize, you can do one of several things:

•    Answer the weekly trivia question correctly. (3 entries per person)
•    Recruit someone to be a fan of the Golf Island Facebook fan page. Simply post to the wall of the page which new fan you recruited. (1 entry per fan recruited)
•    Tweet about the Golf Island Giveaway using #GolfGiveaway and link to this page. (1 entry for every tweet)
•    Write a blog post mentioning the Golf Island Giveaway with a link to this page. (5 entries per blog post)
•    Create and upload a video to YouTube tagged GolfGiveaway describing why you deserve the weekend getaway. (7 entries per unique video)

The winner will be drawn randomly from all the entries and announced at 2 p.m. EST on April 13 on Twitter and Facebook.

Whenever you “tweet” about the contest, please use the label #GolfGiveaway in your message.
