For a moment, after GM stated they couldn’t provide courtesy vehicles to the Verizon Heritage players, it looked like the recession was going to force the players to drive their own vehicles. Organizers of the tournament had been scrambling to find rides, even saying some golfers who lived nearby would have to provide their own cars, but then BMW came to the rescue.
BMW has a plant in Greer, S.C., and when the company heard the news, they gladly offered to provide the tournament with 150 BMW vehicles.
How do you get the 150 BMWs to Sea Pines? Well, the Island Packet reported that hundreds of Verizon Heritage volunteers have agreed to drive the vehicles from the BMW factory in Greer to The Sea Pines Resort, and the first 50 cars are scheduled for pick up on March 18.
Are you happy to see the Heritage players in BMWs?
