Are Your Golf Clubs Making You Deaf?

A recent article in the British Medical Journal suggests that the use of the new titanium driver golf clubs can cause temporary or permanent hearing loss. The study looked at a professional golfer who used titanium clubs and stainless steel-headed golf drivers. They found that all the titanium clubs made a much louder sound than the stainless steel clubs. 
 
So how do you save your hearing and still use the clubs you want? The doctor conducting the study recommends wearing earplugs when golfing with titanium driver golf clubs. In response, however, Andrew Coltart, a professional golfer, says “If you are wearing earplugs you might not hear shouts of ‘fore,’ be hit by a ball on the head and get brain damage.”
